57 & 59 Route d'Aubusson are not your typical French homes: La Maison d’Artiste (The Artist's House ~ Number 59) grew from an older property, traces of which can still be found in the cellars beneath the house. According to local stories, an artist purchased the property in the 1920s and went on to reimagine it entirely. He extended the original house, transformed its character, and added what is now known as La Maison de Calèche (The Coach House ~ number 57). The outbuildings reflect this layered heritage, blending the old with the newish.
In more recent years, the land - La Talc - that once surrounded the house was divided and sold, leaving the peaceful acre you see today.
During the artist’s years here, the house became both home and canvas. He redesigned the interiors and decorated the walls and ceilings with his work. Sadly, this has been covered over as we have been restoring the house, a faint detail or fragment reveals itself, offering a tantalising glimpse into its creative past.
Lavaveix-les-Mines is a village with a soul. Known for its unique mining heritage and 'Ateliers' (now protected monuments), it offers a blend of industrial history and lush, green countryside. Life here is centred around the friendly Thursday morning market, local restaurants, a bistro, and a selection of shops, including the all-important boulangerie, all within a short walk. The surrounding Sentiers provide miles of walking and cycling right from your front door; choose from lush fields, cool woodland, ancient medieval tracks, riverside or lakes with beaches and swimming - there is something for everyone. It’s a place where history meets a peaceful, modern rural lifestyle.
Whether you are looking for a holiday retreat or a full-time move, Lavaveix-les-Mines offers a stress-free lifestyle with all the modern essentials just minutes away.
La Talc have been a creative canvas with a rich history for us. The property is fully habitable and comfortable today, with scope for the new owners to add their own finishing touches and complete the aesthetic vision we started.
We have done the hard work, and La Talc is now a beautiful property set in an acre of peaceful land. We have used the property as a holiday home and were only able to get to it for a few months a year. The property works well as a holiday home but would make a fantastic family home with space to grow flowers, fruit and veg, some poultry, perhaps a sheep or two and a nice swimming pool to cool down in.

The plan is to sell La Talc privately without the need for an estate agent which would mean the buyer would only have Notaire fees on top of the sale price - Much Cheaper!!
We know a French estate agent who speaks excellent English - she may be able to act as a Hand Holder / Translator if you felt the need. It would be up to you to discuss a price for the service you require.
We can also put you in contact with several local builders etc who speak at least a little English if you would find this useful.
